Product Story
PETLYA hinges are traditional butt hinges, the type used on framed doors for centuries. Two leaves connect via a fixed pin; each leaf mortises into the door and frame, creating a strong, reliable pivot. The brass is cast rather than pressed, so the metal density stays consistent throughout. Knuckles are precisely machined for smooth rotation.
Available in multiple sizes to suit different door weights and thicknesses. Five finishes offered. Satin brass provides warm brushed tone. Antique brass delivers aged character. Satin nickel offers cooler brightness. Matte black suits contemporary doors. Unlacquered brass will develop natural patina with air and occasional touch.
Where it works best
- Internal timber doors in residential and commercial buildings
- External doors requiring durable, weather-resistant hinges
- Period properties where traditional hinge style is appropriate
- New builds requiring reliable, long-lasting door hardware
- Renovations replacing worn or corroded hinges
Each hinge sold as a pair (one pair per door is minimum; heavier doors require two or three pairs). Fixings supplied for timber doors and frames. The pin is fixed, not lift-off, so the door must be removed by unscrewing the hinges. Compatible with standard mortise preparation. Built for decades of reliable operation in all environments.
Traditional butt construction. Solid brass. Built for lasting strength.
Made Properly, Not Quickly
We work with specialist manufacturers who understand that hardware isn't just functional—it's the detail people notice. Some pieces are precision CNC-machined from solid brass billets. Others are sand-cast using traditional methods, then hand-finished to remove any imperfections.
The finishing process is where the real craft happens. Each piece passes through multiple stages—grinding, polishing, plating or patinating—before a final inspection under bright light. Finishes like unlacquered brass are left raw to age naturally. Lacquered finishes are sealed to preserve their original tone.
We don't hold stock. Every order is manufactured specifically for you, which means less waste and hardware that hasn't sat in a warehouse for months. It takes a little longer, but the quality is worth waiting for.
